Aygeç’in ilk kişisel sergisi “M.Ö. POP ART” C.A.M. Galeri’de açılıyor. “Ben
Olsaydım…” fikriyle yola çıkan sanatçı, klasik ya da kült olmuş resimlerin
karakterlerini kendi bulundukları dönemden koparmadan günümüzle bağlantıya
geçiriyor.
Sanat,
gelişim ve değişim sürecinde özellikle din ve politikanın etkisiyle belli
dönemlerde sekteye uğrayıp, tahrip edilmiştir.
Sanatçılar sadece kraliyet ailesini ve kiliseyi resmetmek zorunda
bırakılmayıp özgün işlerini sergileme fırsatı bulabilselerdi, acaba nasıl
eserler ortaya çıkıp günümüze ulaşacaktı? Sanatçı resimlerinde sanat tarihinden
aldığı popüler figürlerin üzerine günümüz pop kültüründen bazı kodlamalar
yapıyor ve geçmişle günümüz arasında
yakaladığı bu bağlantı sayesinde aslında o dönemlerde yaşayan insanların
günümüz insanlarından hiç bir farkı olmadığına dikkat çekiyor. Egolar, gösterişler, hırslar hep aynı. Eski
zaman karakterleri günümüzde yaşasaydı nasıl olmak isterlerdi fikriyle kurgulanan
hikayeler hem geçmiş ve günümüz arasında bir bağ kuruyor hem de hayalgücümüze
meydan okuyor.

Yusuf Aygeç’s
first solo show “B.C. POP ART” is opening at C.A.M. Gallery. Through the idea
of “If it were me…” the artist forms a
bond between the ‘classic/cult figure’ and ‘present time’ without detaching the
figures from their own eras.
Throughout
its development and transformation, art has been interrupted and ruined in
certain periods during history due to religious and political impacts. The
question is “what kind of works would emerge if the artists were not forced to
paint the royal families or the church?” The artist is coding certain images of
pop culture into the popular figures of art history/old masters, while claiming
that there is no difference among the people of past and present time. The ego,
pretense and materialism; remain unchanged.
The stories of the works created by the thought of ‘how would the
characters of the past desire to live in present time,’ establish a link
between the past and present while challenging the imaginations of the viewers.
