Sanatorium yeni sergi sezonunu güncel Japon fotoğrafının
genç ve öne çıkan isimlerinden Sohei Nishino’nun İstanbul’daki ilk kişisel
sergisi olan “Diorama Maps” ile açıyor.
11 Eylül – 12 Ekim 2013 tarihleri arasında Sanatorium’da
gerçekleşecek “Diorama Maps” sergisi, Nishino’nun Osaka Üniversitesi’nde henüz
öğrenciyken başladığı ve halen devam eden Diorama Maps serisinden örnekler
barındırıyor.
Diorama Maps serisi, Nishino’nun seçtiği şehirlerin
sokaklarını yürüyerek gezdiği ve bu esnada fotoğrafını çekerek kayıt altına
alarak kendi hafızasında yeniden yarattığı çok katmanlı ve büyük boyutlu haritalarından oluşuyor. Her harita,
Nishino’nun çektiği fotoğrafların yine kendisi tarafından basılması, kesilip
yapıştırılması ve ardından üretilmiş olan kolajın fotoğrafının çekilmesi ile
hummalı bir çalışmanın sonucunda ortaya çıkıyor. Haritalar Nishino’nun şehre
kişisel bakışını ve şehrin kendisinde bıraktığı subjektif izlenimlerle, şehrin
ikonik yerlerini bir arada izleyiciye sunuyor.
Sohei Nishino 1982 yılında Hyogo’da doğdu. Osaka
Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesin’de eğitimini tamamladı. 2005 yılında
Canon New Cosmos Photography Excellence Award’u aldı. Pek çok grup ve kişisel
sergiye katılan Nishino’nun işleri Amana Photo Collection,Louis Vuitton ve
Saatchi Gallery gibi kurumlarında koleksiyonlarında yer alıyor.

Sanatorium opens the new exhibition season with contemporary
Japanese photography’s young and emerging name; Sohei Nishino’s first
individual exhibition in Istanbul “Diorama Maps”.
“Diorama Maps” which will be held in Sanatorium between the
dates 11th of September – 12th of October 2013, includes the works from the
Diorama Maps series that Nishino started as a student in Osaka University.
Diorama Maps series consist of large and multi layered maps
reconstructed by Nishino’s memories by walking the streets of the city he chose
and recordings of this walk as photographs. Each map is the result of an
intense preparation period in which the artist prints the photos by himself,
cuts and glues them and takes the photo of the final collage. The maps show
Nishino’s view toward the cities and the impression they left along with the
iconic places of those cities to the viewers.
Sohei Nishino was born in Hyogo in 1982. He completed his
education in Osaka University of Fine Arts. In 2005 he received Canon New
Cosmos Photography Excellence Award. The works of Nishino who has participated
in many group and individual exhibitions are included in the collection of
institutions such as Amana Photo Collection, Louis Vuitton and Saatchi Gallery.
